Exciting news – Suck It Up was awarded Best Feature Film at the Frankfurt B3 Biennale!
We are thrilled to announce that Suck It Up will be having its World Premiere at the 2017 Slamdance Film Festival.
The film will be screened in the Beyond program, which showcases bold and daring films from emerging filmmakers working beyond their first features. Suck It Up is one of only five films in the Beyond program, and the only Canadian film in that section.
We are so excited to head to Park City in January to celebrate and screen the film with the whole team!
Keep up to date on the film via our social media on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
We are overjoyed to announce that We Were Wolves will be having its World Premiere at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival! Congratulations to the small but mighty dream team involved in this film – it could never have been made without you.
After TIFF, we will hit the Atlantic Film Festival, the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival and the Whistler Film Festival.
Stay tuned for more screening info!
Last week we completed packaging on Get Set’s first feature, We Were Wolves. Many thanks to the tireless post-production team, especially our editor Jon Eagan. Stay tuned for news about future screenings and updates!
Until then, why not check out Space Riders: Division Earth, the hilarious sci-fi web series we just finished for CTV.ca starring Mark Little and Dan Beirne? It’s the best way to kill an hour around, we promise!
Just a quick update to highlight some exciting award news. Seconds was awarded the Shaw Media Fearless Female Director Award at the NSI Online Short Film Festival this month, and will be featured on the site throughout December for Fearless Female Director Month. So many females, so little fear – I love it! Last week, Seconds was also named one of the Top 12 Canadian Short Films by The Shorts Report, along with eleven other fantastic shorts. So exciting! Finally, I’m also extremely humbled to have been awarded the 2013 Best Short Film Award by the Women’s International Film and Television Showcase. It’s an incredible honour to be in such fine company. A pretty nice way to end the year as we put our heads down and prepare for the long winter ahead…
That title is no exaggeration. Over the last three months, there has not been much in the way of downtime. Two enormous, back to back productions have just wrapped up and only now, with one day off under the belt, has there been time to write about it.
For the better part of September, Space Riders: Division Earth was in production. This sci fi comedy web series is fresh from the comedic genius brains of Mark Little and Dan Beirne. It’s slated for online release on the Comedy Network this winter.
Right on the heels of wrapping Space Riders, Get Set Films produced their first feature film We Were Wolves. This drama about family, fuck ups and forgiveness stars Peter Mooney, Steve Cochrane and Lynda Boyd. Post-production begins this month, so stay tuned…
In other news, Seconds will be screening at Interfilm Berlin this month as part of their International Shorts Competition – one of only 71 films selected out of 7000 entries.
It’s been an amazing few months…so many exciting projects coming down the pipes!
There’s a whole slew of exciting screenings coming up over the next few months, with films playing to audiences in Nova Scotia, Manitoba, Toronto, New York and Denmark!
First up, Not Over Easy will be playing at the Gimli Film Festival in Gimli, Manitoba on July 24th.
On August 16th, Seconds will be playing before Jurassic Park at the Atlantic Film Festival Outdoor Film Experience in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Seconds will also have its European premiere at the 28th Odense International Film Festival in Denmark. It is the only Canadian film in competition, and we are extremely proud and excited to be part of this year’s festival.
Later in August, Best Served will be playing at an open air cinema at the South St. Seaport in New York City, as part of the Front/Row Cinema Summer Series. What’s even better is that it’s playing in front of Young Frankenstein, the inspiration for the music video itself!
Finally, back on the home turf, Bedroom will be screening in Toronto on August 30th as part of the International Fetish Film Festival Toronto. Kinky!
A very exciting summer indeed. We are completely over the moon!
Most of The Tunnel team were in Cannes this month for the international premiere of the film as part of Telefilm’s Not Short on Talent screening. Check out our Facebook page for updates and festival news!
Some great news from Germany this week – Oliver Bump’s Birthday was awarded Best Short Film in the 12+ category at the Interfilm Berlin KUKI Festival. Here’s a quote from the award Jury (translated from German):
“The film convinced us with its wonderful sarcasm and picture book-like images. The fact that one actress did not fit in with the rest of the imagery made the whole film refreshing. While we found the characters genuine, we enjoyed that they were not taken too seriously.”
Also very excited to announce that The Tunnel (The Big Dirty Ol’ Hole) is picture locked and should be completed by early December. We are thrilled to be working with the very talented folks at Pyramid Attack, who are designing our end credit animation. Getting ready to dig in and hibernate for the winter – always our most productive time of year! Stay warm out there…
